Program Description

Course Summary:  Students will be instructed on basic principles encountered during physical confrontations with non-compliant and violent subjects.  Principle based training to apply simple, effective techniques that allow the officer to successfully counter attacks by an assailant, whether standing or on the ground.

Instructional Objectives:

  • Understand the principles of hand to hand combat
  • Utilize these principles to successfully end a violent encounter
  • Separate myth versus reality
  • Students need to have an understanding that technique is useless without the methodology of how an engagement works
  • Students need to show an understanding that natural (instinctive)response to an attack will be easier to recall, thus eliminating the "freezing" response

 

Needed Equipment:  Full Duty Gear (Minus Duty Weapon).  This includes TASER, handcuffs, baton and OC
