Description: This course establishes the foundation for delivery of training programs within the emergency services spectrum. Emphasis is placed on professional delivery, organization, and methodologies of teaching. Students will develop lesson plans, curriculum presentations, and evaluation tools. Successful completion of the program is dependent upon practical skill demonstration, including a presentation and a multiple choice written examination. Training Audience: Those who aspire to become fire company training officers or fire service instructors. This is a prerequisite course for Fire Officer I. Prerequisite(s): None Course Length: 48-hours Certification: International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) & National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NPQS-ProBoard) Fire Service Instructor I. Textbook: International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) Fire and Emergency Services Instructor, 8th Edition. Textbook will be provided in class. Equipment Needs: Pen / pencil, note-taking material. It is also highly recommended that students bring a laptop or tablet to complete the in class assignments and skill stations required for certification.
