Description: Truck companies, regardless of whether they arrive on an aerial device, squad, or engine are the ‘combat engineers’ of fire attack operations. This course, for experienced firefighters, will introduce the student to the basic concept of truck company operations and duties, including organizing the delivery of truck company services, selection and use of key tools, advanced ventilation and forcible entry theory and practices, search and rescue, and other fire attack support functions. Truck company support to the engine company is also discussed. Students may be asked to provide apparatus for the practical portion. Training Audience: Any firefighters that would find themselves assigned to a truck or ladder company or those that want to have a better understanding of truck company operations. Prerequisite(s): A certificate indicating a live fire-training program (i.e. SBS, ZSFB, ELIF) or Fire Fighter I Certification. Course Length: 16-hours Certification: Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Certificate for Truck Company Operations I, upon successful completion of the course. Textbook: Training materials will be provided in class. Equipment Needs: Pen / pencil, note-taking material. Required Equipment: Full turnout gear with self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). In addition, a spare cylinder is recommended.
