Course Description: Law enforcement today provides a myriad of continual legal, ethical and moral issues every day. Working in an organizational culture and environment which demands honesty and integrity, while meeting the many challenges law enforcement regularly presents today, can be challenging if not overwhelming. Ethical decision making and behavior is a public expectation of all LE and public safety personnel in the United States today! With this, continual training in the area of ethics and legally defensible behavior on the part of all LE and public safety personnel is a must. However, many ethics courses simply identify what not to do, and explain to you what will happen if you do. Few LE and public safety ethics courses reveal the actual steps personnel need to take in order to make and implement ethical decisions successfully every day at work and even while off duty! All personnel, not just supervisors and leaders today, must fully understand the responsibility they carry for ensuring the agency and its personnel operate in an ethical manner both inside and out! Finally this course discusses the possible need for additional training, supervision and even progressive discipline if and when ethics violations occur. Lunch will be provided!! Training Audience: Law Enforcement Officer Prerequisite (s): None Equipment Needs: Note taking material Course Contact: Kevin Bernard, Law Enforcement Training Coordinator, (610) 344-4619 or kbernard@chesco.org. |
