Passenger Vehicle Rescue Technician (Awareness, Operations, Technician) Course Description: This sixty-hour combined course will provide an awareness-level, operations and technician level of information and skills as they pertain to passenger vehicle rescue incidents. At the completion of this program the student will be able to apply to challenge the NFPA 1006 Passenger Vehicle Certification test. Once successful with this certification test, a PA DOH Vehicle Rescue Technician will be issued. Passenger Vehicle Rescue Awareness – 24 (PVRA24) Prerequisite (s): Participants entering the program must be at least 16 years of age by the first day of class, have completed the FEMA’s NIMS 100 & 700, an approved HAZMAT Awareness course, and a recognized Traffic Incident Management (TIM) certificate. Participants who completed an NVRA program since 2015 are eligible for entry into this course. Passenger Vehicle Rescue Technician – 24 (PVRT24) Prerequisite (s): Participants entering the program MUST have completed Passenger Vehicle Rescue Operations-24, possess current first aid or EMS Provider certification, current CPR. Participants who completed NVRO program since 2015 are eligible for entry into this course. Please refer to the Minimum Standard of Accreditation on (MSA) on the PSFA websiteP.P.E.: Full turn out gear to include helmet, extrication/leather gloves, foot wear, and eye protection. Certificate: Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, Passenger Vehicle Rescue Awareness (PVRA-24), Passenger Vehicle Rescue Operations (PVRO-24) and Passenger Vehicle Rescue Technician (PVRT-24) certificates will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
