Description: This presentation is a discussion about the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems commonly found in commercial buildings and their basic operation. The program will revolve around topics firefighters should understand from an engineering perspective. Along with the MEP systems green construction and utilizing the Tic will be discussed.

Google Earth will be used to "fly around" and review structures to discuss roof top equipment and exterior utilities and equipment discussed in the presentation. The locations will be pre-planned and/or suggested by the audience. It's meant to be discussion based and interactive as everyone has varying levels of knowledge and building systems in their first due.

At the conclusion, firefighters will have a basic understanding of what to look for before, and during, an incident. They will learn ways to gather information and develop relationships to improve their strategies and operations. From pre-plan to response, they will have an "awareness level" of how these systems can impact fireground tactics and safety.
