Driver/Operator - Aerial Apparatus Certification Challenge

Description: Through written and practical examinations the Driver/Operator - Aerial Apparatus candidate will successfully complete and pass both exams in order to receive certification.

Training Audience: Students who have met the necessary prerequisites to be able to challenge the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Driver/Operator - Aerial Apparatus Certification written exam and practical skill stations.

Prerequisite(s): Minimum Level Requirement:

• Valid Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Driver’s License
• Current Hazardous Materials Operations Certificate or Refresher Certificate (dated within one (1) year of testing date)
• Proboard or IFSAC Firefighter 1 Certification
• Candidate must be 18 years-of-age prior to test dates

Application Requirements: Completed applications must be received at the test site (CCPSTC)   three weeks (21 days) prior to the written test date. Applications received after this deadline or incomplete applications will NOT be accepted for testing.

Certification: Driver/Operator - Aerial Apparatus certificate will be issued from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy upon successful completion and passing of the written exam and practical skills testing.

Equipment Needs: Pen / pencil, note-taking material. Required Equipment: Full turnout gear (FTOG), Safety glasses

Students must provide or have access to a Aerial Apparatus meeting the specifications for use during practical skills evolutions.
