Course Description: This training program combines the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy’s Pump Operations I, Pump Operations II, and Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT) courses. This integrated class is designed for firefighters seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in fire apparatus pump operations and emergency vehicle driving. Participants have the option of attending all or just one of the Pump Operations offerings below, EVDT is presented throughout Pump Operations I and II: Pump Operations I: Introduction to fire pump theory, apparatus inspection, basic pump operation, and water supply Pump Operations II: Advanced pump operations, relay pumping, drafting, troubleshooting, and complex scenarios. EVDT: Safe driving techniques, legal requirements, vehicle dynamics, and emergency response best practices. At the conclusion of the program, students will have the option to participate in the Driver/Operator - Pumper Certification Challenge. This challenge provides an opportunity to earn state certification, demonstrating proficiency in pump operations. Certification challenge participation is optional but encouraged. Training Audience:Firefighters seeking to expand their operational capabilities, and apparatus operators and driver candidates Prerequisite(s): A valid Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Driver’s License. Student must be 18 years -of-age on the first day of class. Students must have access to a Class-A Pumper.Course Length: 56-hoursCertification: Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Pumps I, Pumps II and EVDT certificates will be issued upon successful completion of the course. Special Notes: Students not meeting the requirements for National Driver/Operator - Pumper testing may attend the course and will receive the state certificates listed.Equipment Needs: Note -taking material.
