Course Description : Through lecture and practical exercises students will become familiar with basic concepts and techniques utilizing large diameter hoses and tank trucks to move water to the fire ground in rural areas. They will demonstrate safe, efficient methods for moving water for fire extinguishment purposes. Tank trucks and large diameter hoses will be utilized during practical exercises. At the conclusion of the training students will be automatically enrolled in the NFPA 1002 Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications Driver/Operator—Mobile Water Supply Certification. A person certified at the Mobile Water Driver/Operator level will have demonstrated competency in the necessary knowledge and skills, to perform the minimum requirements of an emergency vehicle driver/operator. Training Audience:Anyone who in the course of their duties is responsible for the operation of a tanker apparatus. Prerequisites: ELIS or IST. A valid Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Driver’s License. Student must be 18 years-of-age on the first day of class. Students must have access to a Tanker Truck. Equipment: Note taking material, Full Turnout Gear, Student must be able to provide a Tanker Truck meeting all specifications for use during the practical skills evolutions.Certificates:Pa State Fire Academy Rural Fire Ground Water Movement, Chester County Tanker Shuttle. Special Notes: Students not meeting the requirements for National Driver/Operator - Mobile Water Supply testing may attend the course and will receive the state certificates listed.
