Response to Battery Emergencies

Course Description : Lithium-Ion batteries are used in various devices. These batteries are commonly used in cell phones, laptops, tablets, electric cars, bikes and scooters. Lithium-ion batteries store a large amount of energy and can pose a threat if not treated properly. Like any product, a small number of these batteries are defective. They can overheat, catch fire, or explode.

With a increase of overheating and fires involving these batteries our response technicians from Chester County Hazardous Material Team developed this program to raise awareness to our emergency medical, fire fighting and hazardous materials operations responders on the hazards involved with Lithium-Ion batteries and several tips when confronted by fires involving these batteries.
