Course Description:

In this four-hour course students will:

  • Understand addiction as a chronic disease and learn how stigma impacts the pursuit of treatment
  • Become trauma-informed, and use that understanding in the interactions with the community
  • Identify engagement techniques to use during interventions that encourage connection to treatment

The course consists of six modules:

  • Module I: Understanding Addiction
  • Module II: Understanding Trauma
  • Module III: Impact of Stigma
  • Module IV: Prevention and Intervention
  • Module V: Understanding Treatment
  • Module VI: Practical skills

 

Training Audience: Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders

Prerequisite(s): None

Course Length: 4 hours
