Description: This 40-hour course will equip entry level firefighters with the knowledge, skills, and abilities focusing on exterior fire ground operations. The course will consist of lecture and practical’s consisting of:

  • SCBA Donning
  • Fire Dynamics
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Forcible Entry
  • Fire Streams
  • Ladders

Also included in this module are Hazardous Materials Operations and CPR/First Aid. Participants will have the option to participate in the Hazardous Materials Operations Certification Challenge at the conclusion of the module.

This course is the third module of the PA State Fire Academy’s Entry Level Fire Training Curriculum

FACIAL HAIR IS NOT PERMITTED IN THIS MODULE

 

Training Audience: Firefighters starting their career in the fire service

Prerequisite(s): Must be 16 years old, Fireground Support (ELFG) certificate, Hazardous Materials Awareness, ICS 100, ICS 700.

Age 16 to 18, students must possess a proper work permit from your school district. They must be turned on the first day of training. Earlier submissions are ok.

Course Length: 80 hours

Textbook: Fire Fighting manual and skills book, will be provided at an additional charge.

Equipment Needs: Note-taking material and full PPE (helmet, gloves, turnout coat and pants, boots, protective hood, and safety glasses/goggles) and SCBA with spare air cylinder.

Pennsylvania Department of Health Continuing Education Hours: 2 hours, Patient Care and 6 hours other
