BRIDGE Fireground Support BEL22/26 

Course Description: This 12-hour bridge course transitions students from the legacy EL22 curriculum (IFSTA text) to the new EL26 curriculum (Jones & Bartlett) Text by covering topics not previously included in EL22 that are required under the NFPA 1010 Support Level standard. It is designed for students who have completed Intro to the Fire Service (ELIS) AND Fireground Support (ELFG) and are seeking additional training or eligibility to test at the NFPA 1010 Support Level.

The course focuses on

  • Firefighter Health and Safety
  • Shutting off Utilities
  • Fire Behavior
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Firefighter Tools and Equipment
  • Clean and inspect fire service ladders

Training Audience: Students who began Entry Level Training and are preparing for Exterior and Interior Firefighter training.

Prerequisite (s): Must be 14 years old, Introduction to the Fire Services (ELIS) certificate, Hazardous Materials Awareness. Age 14 to 18, students must possess a proper work permit from your school district. They must be turned on the first day of training. Earlier submissions are ok.

Course Corequisites - Must be completed prior to NFPA 1010 Support Person certification exam and/or ELFF1.

  • Traffic Incident Management (TIM)
  • Enrollment into ACADIS platform

Equipment Needs: Note-taking material and full PPE (helmet, gloves, turnout coat and pants, boots, protective hood, and safety glasses/goggles
