Description: Through written and practical examinations the Firefighter I candidate will successfully complete and pass both exams in order to receive certification. Training Audience: Students who have met the necessary prerequisites to be able to challenge the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Firefighter I Certification written exam and practical skill stations. Prerequisite(s): Minimum Level Requirement:
Students must conform to the PA State Fire Academy’s Facial Hair Policy that requires a student be clean shaven except for a neatly trimmed moustache. Application Requirements: Completed application must be received NO LATER than two (2) weeks prior to test date. Applications received after this deadline or incomplete applications will NOT be accepted for testing. Testing Application and candidate handbook can be found at: www.osfc.pa.govCourse Length: 12-hoursCertification: ProBoard Firefighter I certificate will be issued from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy upon successful completion and passing of the written exam and practical skills testing. Equipment Needs: Pen / pencil, note-taking material. Required Equipment: Full turnout gear (FTOG), Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and spare SCBA cylinder.
