Description: Over one hundred thousand individuals have been nationally certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) since the standardized curriculum and certification program began in 1997. CPS Technicians use their considerable knowledge and expertise at a variety of community-based activities, such as child safety seat checks, where parents and caregivers receive education and hands-on assistance with the proper use of child restraint systems and safety belts. The National Standardized Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification Course is usually three to four days long and combines classroom instruction, written quizzes, indoor and outdoor hands-on activities, skills assessments with car seats and vehicles, and a community safety seat checkup event.Training Audience: Open to allPrerequisite(s): None Course Length: 32-hours Certification: Successful completion of this course certifies the individual as a CPS technician for two years.
