Description: This course will provide prospective and current company level officers with a wide variety of skills needed to be a skilled and proficient company level officer.  It will provide company level officers with the basic skills required to manage career and volunteer personnel in both operational and administrative situations. The course will touch on the following areas:

  • Leadership
  • Organizational Structures and Administration
  • Pre-Planning and Incident Preparedness
  • Operational Strategies and Tactics
  • Company Level Officer’s Role in Training

This course will touch on these important topics and allow for students to identify his/her strengths and weaknesses in these areas.  The sections of the course will create a solid base of a knowledge and allow the students to branch off to other, more in-depth, courses on the topics.  The students should leave feeling more confident and prepared to handle both operational and administrative issues at the company level.    

Training Audience: Company level fire officers

Prerequisite(s): None

Course Length: 16-hours 

Certification: Pennsylvania State Fire Academy certificate will be issued upon successful completion of course requirements.

Textbook: Course materials will be provided in class.

Equipment Needs: Pen / pencil, note-taking material.
