Description: This course will provide basic training in skills specific to officers tasked and assigned as police snipers or precision marksman with a precision rifle sighted with a magnified optic. The specific marksmanship skills taught in this course will provide a fundamental understanding of precision rifle marksmanship, and it use in a tactical situation by a trained police officer. This course will train the experienced police officer as a basic level sniper.

This course does not address specific team policy or regulation, and does not advise on specifics of state or local law. This course is in no way a selection process, in and of itself, and completion of the course does not guarantee any officer an assignment as a sniper or additional training.

Training Audience: Experienced law enforcement officers desiring the training necessary to become a basic level sniper.

Prerequisite(s): None

Course Length: 40-hours

Textbook: Training materials will be provided in class.

Equipment Needs: Pen / pencil, note-taking material. In addition, the following is also required equipment for this course:

• Sniper firearm system (bolt action or semi-auto .308 is recommended) including scope.
• Duty pistol and holster (as would be carried on tactical deployment)
• Ballistic armor (minimum is a concealable soft ballistic vest)
• 400 – rounds of match-grade ammunition for sniper weapon
• 50 – rounds of ammunition for duty pistol
