Incident Command System and Resource Management for the Fire Service (ICSRMFS) (NFA)

Description: This online virtual course will introduce basic concepts and application of incident management and ICS that can be utilized at a variety of incidents. The student will examine the ICS organization and related forms which will enhance the students understanding of ICS and better prepare them for implementation in their own jurisdiction. Successful completion of the course fulfills the requirements for ICS 100 and 200.

Learning Outcomes: The students will be able to:

  • Describe various functions and applications of the Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of the Incident Command System (ICS) General Staff and the Intelligence/Investigation positions.
  • Develop an organizational structure using an Incident Command System (ICS) Form 201, Incident Briefing, organizational chart and Strategy Prompter during an emergency incident.
  • Recognize the importance of preparedness, establishing agreements, and continually evaluating the size and complexity of an incident.

Prerequisite(s): None. Preregistration required. A zoom link will be sent to registered students.

Course Length: 14.5 hours

Certificate: Pa. State Fire Academy and National Fire Academy

Textbook: Students will need the Incident Command System and Resource Management for the Fire Service student manual.

Equipment Needs: Pen / pencil, note-taking material.
